Make & glaze a Porcelain Train inspired by The Railway Children by E Nesbit.
Saturday 30th March 2024
11am - 4pm
As part of this years 'A Town Explores a Book' Festival in St Leonards we are looking at 'The Railway Children' by E Nesbit. Think railways, steam trains and train stations in a pre-computerised world.
We will be making porcelain trains / train related items to hang in the shop window for the duration of the Festival.
You can choose whether you want to exhibit your work as part of the Festival or take it home. Everyone gets to keep the work they have made.
On Saturday 30th March you can come and make a decorative porcelain train using Liz’s porcelain clay and learning her techniques. You can bring your own train designs and textures to press into the clay, or use ones provided.
On Saturday 6th April you will glaze your train. The trains will be exhibited in our shop window from Tuesday 9th April until Wednesday 17th April.
Fun for children and adults alike (children need to be accompanied by an adult).
It is FREE to make a train and have it fired. If you would like to come back and glaze your train it will cost £30. All materials and kiln firings are included in the cost.
Each class on each day will be around 1hour long.
Classes start at 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm
To Book: Email Liz; liz@lizemtageceramics.com / Call 07941416251
N.B: This workshop has been funded by A Town Explores a Book festival. If we manage to secure further funding both workshop days will be free.
What are our events like...?
Would you like to have a go at making something in porcelain clay, but you're not quite sure if it's for you? Read our short article describing what it is like to take part in one of her porcelain workshops - where you get to experience the fun part of being an artist. Our events make a great chance to meet new people, team up with a friend for a day out with a difference or make a loved one a unique gift made with your own hands.
